Cycle Adventures in Loch Ard Forest

Just a few miles from Karma Lake of Menteith, between the foothills of Loch Lomond and the pretty village of Aberfoyle, you’ll find Loch Ard Forest – a stunning stretch of heavily wooded land that reaches all the way to the Lochside. The forest is criss-crossed by trails devoid of traffic – making it the perfect place for leisurely bicycle tours.

Karma Lake of Menteith has teamed up with Elizabeth Gilmour – a British Cycling qualified mountain bike leader and cycling coach who lives in the area. Elizabeth has an intimate knowledge of all the trails around the forest and can cater for a wide range of abilities – she has a deep connection with the countryside here and loves to share this passion with guests.

Elizabeth’s guided rides start from Aberfoyle Bike Hire in the centre of Aberfoyle village, just four miles from Karma Lake of Menteith. Tours depart at 10am and are approximately two hours long, taking in the prettiest parts of Loch Ard Forest with Elizabeth gauging fitness levels to ensure that the route is appropriate.  There’s no need to bring anything except perhaps a water bottle and some snacks – mountain bikes and helmets provided of course!
