Château de Samary has charm and elegance.
Our week was wonderful made especially delightful by the Karma team, Ed, Angela and Rafik. They made us so welcome and comfortable. The Château itself is nestled in the glorious French countryside and currently has 7 guest bedrooms (glamping is still work in progress), making it very homely and friendly. Happily it has a lovely swimming pool (a revamp of the poolside is planned).
Bedrooms are very comfortable and have a hairdryer, bathroom toiletries (soap, shower gel and body lotion). Ed served up a most delicious daily Continental breakfast which was a social event in itself. Ed catered to my husbands Gluten free needs, even down to the beer! The Château doesn’t have Wi-Fi for guest use as yet (we were way out in the countryside!) but it’s in the pipeline. Nor does it have Air-con or cooking facilities for guests but does have free tea and coffee… a super Lavazza coffee machine. There is no restaurant for lunches and evening meals as yet, but within walking distance (2k) there is a fabulous and reasonably priced French restaurant.. Le Platane de Caux.. highly recommend it!
We recommend hiring a car to get there and to fully appreciate the area. The Château is a very relaxing place, the dawn chorus is an all day event, with the jewel in the crown of Carcassonne just 12k away. Nearby there are other medieval towns to visit too and stunning countryside, with delicious foods and wines what more could one want? Thank you again Ed, Angela and Rafik for making our holiday so magical.
