Precious Experiences of Staying at Karma Lake of Menteith

Hi,

We'd like to say how much we enjoyed our recent stay at Karma Lake of Menteith.

After picking up a car in Glasgow, we drove to Karma Lake of Menteith and were greeted by Hazel. Our room, Osprey, was on the ground floor overlooking the lake. We were treated to some complimentary goodies in our room such a nice welcome 😊.

The location of the property means that renting a car is a good idea. Karma Lake of Menteith is:

• One hour north of Glasgow mostly on a freeway, then down to narrower country roads.

• Almost two hours west of Edinburgh.

• Half an hour from Stirling.

It’s a fantastic central location to explore the above locations along with easy access the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. During our stay, we were able to visit :

• Stirling Castle.

• Falkirk Wheel.

• Ardrossan, where my partner’s father was born and where he visited his grandparents at the lock keeper's house as a child.

• Loch Lubnaig.

• Glencoe is a beautifully scenic area.

• Fort William and Ben Nevis.

• After Fort William, we were heading for Strontian, but the single-track road defeated us. For the uninitiated, these are tiny roads where you need to use the frequent pull-off to the side sections to allow oncoming traffic to pass.

The central location of Karma Lake of Menteith and proximity to the highlands meant that we could see a range of amazing scenery along with the other man-made things that we wanted to see.

We did all the above in three days. But wished that we had made more time available to see even more. We ate at the hotel each evening. There was finer dining available, but we loved sitting in the bar having a couple of drinks, chatting with staff and other guests and locals, and the food offered in the bar was really great.

On Friday night, we were treated to a local music duo, and we had a bit of a knees-up and jig with other guests. It was a lot of fun. We needed to leave very early on Sunday to make a train connection south. In our bleary-eyed state, we managed to leave behind a suit and blazer in the wardrobe. Karma Lake of Menteith staff were so helpful when it came to arranging collection by an Edinburgh Pack and Send company. We were able to pick it up when calling into Edinburgh a few weeks later on a cruise.

From start to finish of our stay, we would like to thank everyone we had contact with at Karma Lake of Menteith. In the breakfast dining room, the bar and reception. You all made us feel really welcome and looked after us before, during and after our stay. If you’re an Australian reading this and you watch the TV Show the Travel Guides, you’ll know what we mean when we give our Karma Lake of Menteith stay “Five kilts out of five”.

Thank you!

Lyndy Rol and Steve Kelly
