Celebrate Asar Pandhra, the “National Paddy Day” festival, in the foothills of the Himalayas with an intimate journey into Sikkim’s farming traditions, village life and seasonal rituals.
Based at Karma Martam Retreat, this experience invites you to slow down and take part in a living festival shaped by the land and community that brings you into village homes, terraced rice fields and evening celebrations.
From guided village walks and home-cooked meals to traditional rice planting, puja ceremonies and a bonfire night filled with music and dance, each day offers a meaningful connection to the rhythm of rural Sikkim.

DAY 1 THURSDAY 2 JULY 2026
- Check in at Karma Martam Retreat
- Time to settle in and take in the calm surroundings
- Welcome dinner with fellow members
DAY 2 FRIDAY 3 NOVEMBER 2026
- Breakfast
- Guided village walk with Karma Martam guides
- Experience daily life in Martam Village
- Visit Changey Falls
- Home-cooked lunch with a local family featuring traditional Sikkimese flavours
- Evening at resort to relax
DAY 3 SATURDAY 4 JULY 2026
- 9:00 am Puja ceremony followed by breakfast
- Traditional farming experience
- Watch oxen plough terraced rice fields using the Joru Gotnu method
- Join local farmers, or bausey, in sowing rice seeds
- Tea break with local snacks
- Return to the retreat for lunch
- Afternoon at leisure
- 7:00 pm Bonfire celebration for the Asar Pandhra festival
- Traditional music & dance performances
- Dinner under the night sky

- All bookings are non-transferable and may not be sold, assigned or transferred to another individual or member once confirmed.
- The attendee names provided at time of booking must be the exact attendees at the event, unless explicit approval is granted by Karma Concierge.
- All membership fees must be current at both the time of booking and the date of the event in order to attend. Refund of any monies / points used will be given subject to a minimum of 30 days notice being given.
