The Penguin Walk: Charity walk for Christel House students

It’s how we do business, it’s in our hearts, it’s as simple as giving back to the world. It’s the word Karma itself which means “is meant to be”, so it happened in 2015 when John Spence, Chairman and Founder of Karma Group, set up a Charity called the Penguin Walk. Having traveled and met so many different people and cultures, it was a one way destination to drive awareness for a good cause.

Karma Group is proud to give back to the community by supporting charities such as Christel House in Banglore, working with at-risk children, providing shelter, education as well as holistic programmes to give them a positive and healthy kick start in life. There are many other groups in Bali, from charities that empower the disabled community, to programs that encourage and support elite and next-gen athletes.

The Penguins started in France from our Karma people of le Preverger, a unique private estate that conjures Cote d’Azur glamour and contemporary luxury in the heart of the French Riviera. We set out at 6 a.m. near La Garde Freinet in the South of France, walked 38 kms dressed as penguins in order to raise awareness in a funny way of an important cause. We finally arrived at club 55 on Pamplona beach, 5 mins ahead of our 3 p.m. lunch reservation.

We could not be more happy and satisfied, when we reached our goal, having fundraised enough money to put Christel House students through a full university degree programs, something that will change their and the lives of their families, forever.
We wholeheartedly respect and embrace all this youth, by providing a sense of belonging, giving them a solid foundation on which to build their lives. Through love and acceptance, emotional wounds are healed and confidence is built. By educating them, students learn to trust and believe in themselves and others. With this self-assurance all of them can recognise and fulfil their potential. We help to flourish cherished members of the society.

This year we set off at dawn on the 4th of October 2016 in search of another lunch! This time in La Mole approximately 32 kms away and this time the Penguins were dressed as Kangaroos!! Karma Group has raised more than £10,000 for children’s charity Christel House through its second Penguin Walk.
