Karma is the inspiration of British-born John Spence, one of the world’s most respected trail-blazers and free-thinkers in the fields of travel and entertainment. Not many winners of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award, after all, admit to a youth playing in punk bands, wearing a plastic bin liner.

Karma Group comprises of Karma Resorts, Karma Retreats, Karma Royal, Karma Estates, Karma Beach, as well as Karma Spa which was launched in 2003 to immediate success. John’s vision is to create a holistic, connected community of unique five-star destinations, linking like-minded individuals on every continent. Karma now has 30 resorts. Coming next: Carcassonne and Spain.

As a socially conscious entrepreneur, John is passionate about supporting the communities that are a part of the Karma world. His Karma Community Care programme provides education to at-risk children, as well as funding for rising sports talents.
