Travelling to Karma St. Martin’s in the Isles of Scilly

Catch the Scillonian ferry from Penzance to St. Mary’s. The Scillonian makes the crossing in an average 2¾ hours. Dogs are welcome on board and the ferry generally makes one return crossing per day. The Scillonian docks at St. Mary’s Quay at which guests can alight and then board one of the inter-island boats to St. Martin’s. Prices for the Scillonian are very reasonable. Taking seasickness tablets is advisable. You may be lucky enough to see dolphins or basking sharks.
By Air
Catch the Skybus to St. Mary’s from Exeter, Newquay or Land’s End. The flight time is 15-60 minutes depending on the departure location. Your bird’s eye view offers unforgettable views and provides you with a fantastic insight into the landscapes and scenery you’ll see during your stay at Karma St. Martin’s.

Please note that the Skybus and helicopter flights rely on good weather and visibility. From St. Mary’s airport take a shuttle bus down to St. Mary’s Quay and board an inter-island boat to St. Martin’s. Shuttle buses are located outside the airport and the journey takes approximately 10 minutes, costing £8 for a return journey.
It is vital that you inform reception at Karma St. Martin’s of your travel arrangements once you book so that we may assist you in your arrangements. Travel to the Isles of Scilly is popular and it is recommended to book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
Upon Reaching St Mary’s Quay
From St. Mary’s, catch an inter-island boat to St. Martin’s. All boats are tide dependent precise timings are decided 1 day in advance. There are two boat companies which operate between St. Mary’s and St. Martin’s – catch a scheduled boat or a choose a private ‘special’ boat.
A scheduled boat is around £6 for a single trip, and special boats start from £55 for a single trip.
The St. Mary’s Boatman’s Association is a company which announces boat times for the day at 9am every morning. St. Mary’s Boatman’s Association can be contacted by phone. Tresco Boats provides special boats however please note advance booking is strongly advised.
A scheduled boat takes around 40 minutes while a special boat will get you to St. Martin’s in 15 minutes. If you have informed Karma St. Martin’s reception team of your travel plans we’ll be happy to contact you with the boat times prior to your arrival. If you think you would prefer a special boat, please inform reception in advance so they can help you make the necessary arrangements.
Arriving on St. Martin’s
St. Martin’s has two quays which boats may arrive into dependent on the tide.
Higher Town Quay is located a thirty-minute walk from Karma St. Martin’s.
Lower Town Quay is close to Karma St. Martin’s, and a two-minute walk from the hotel.
