Immune-boosting Jamu Tonic

    Immune-boosting Jamu Tonic

    Prevention is the best remedy which is why we’re sharing our Karma Spa Jamu tonic recipe with you. Created from Turmeric, Ginger root and Lime or Tamarind, millions are said to drink Jamu daily as a remedy for cold and flu. Jamu is considered the traditional plant medicine system of Indonesia. Jamu is also recommended for alleviating digestive issues, and reducing pain and inflammation in the body. At Karma Spas, we serve this medicinal elixir before your massage.

    DRINK IT DAILY

    Cold & Flu Remedy: During the cooler months, we suggest you warm your Jamu elixir – helps to soothe dry and sore throats.

    Note: Turmeric can leave a yellow stain so make sure you wash your hands, utensils and equipment immediately after use.

    INGREDIENTS:

    Yields: Portions

    • 3/4 Cup
    • 1/3 Cup
    • 1 Tbsp
    • 1 Tbsp
    • 1 Pinch
    • 3-4 Cups
    • INSTRUCTIONS:
    • Combine sliced Turmeric and Ginger roots with 2 cups of water and boil for around 20-25 minutes until you have a smooth concoction.
    • Cool then strain and pour into your blender. Add the remaining water with the lime or Tamarind paste, Black Pepper and raw honey.
    • Blend until a creamy frothy texture
    • Pour Jam drink into a jar or bottle and keep refrigerated – will last for 3-4 days.
