Jamu Kunyit Asam

To prepare the Jamu Kunyit Asam:

  • 3 liters
  • 250 grams
  • 200 grams
  • 400 grams
  • 10 grams
  • 1 tsp
  • Ensure the turmeric root is scrubbed clean, use a sponge or even toothbrush.
  • Place in a blender with ginger and process into a paste.
  • Place the mineral water into a heavy bottom pot and bring to a boil.
  • Add the turmeric ginger paste, palm sugar, tamarind and salt.
  • Reduce heat to medium and cook until the palm sugar and tamarind has melted.
  • Bring to a boil and continue to cook for 10-15 minutes.
  • Turn off heat and let cool to warm temperature. Strain through a fine mesh strainer into a bowl.
  • Continue to cool to room temperature and pour into bottles with airtight lids.
  • Refrigerate until chilled and ready to enjoy.
  • Note this recipe will keep fresh in the fridge for up to one week.
